This summer Creamfields mainstage artist Example returns with a brand new single, having killed the crowd with the ‘demonic overground club smash’ (Sunday Times Culture), ‘Hooligans’, he has left the klaxons behind in favour of the sound of pop and produced one of the biggest tunes to hit the ’09 heatwave. ‘Watch The Sun Come Up’ will be released through FSUK on 21st September.
The raps are still razorwire sharp and Example’s perceptive take on life is still intact, the difference is that he has chosen the talents of the mighty metrophonic to work with on his new material, the multi person production team headed up by pop superproducer Brian Rawlings – who more than knows a thing or two about global hitmaking having worked with the likes of Britney and Kylie
Although a maverick move for the Londoner, Example is comfortable in his new surroundings, and so it seems are the music glitterati with Scotland’s finest Calvin Harris also featured on the forthcoming album and Radio 1’s Zane Lowe not only hammering ‘Hooligans’ but also inviting him to play during his set in Ibiza this summer.
Above all in ‘Watch The Sun Come Up’ Example has proven he is a seriously talented songwriter, he has encapsulated the idiosyncrasies of a summer romance in one hit which will leave everyone who hears it, not only with the incredibly addictive chorus looping in their head, but also the warm fuzz of nostalgia engulfing them.
Or in Example’s own words “everyone has had a holiday romance, a holiday fling, one night stand -- whatever you wanna call it. There’s something about sunsets and beaches though that make you think you’re in love -- when you’re probably not”.
‘Watch The Sun Come Up’ is released on FSUK on 21st September with remixes from Fred Falke, Blame, Devil’s Gun, Moam and Jokey & Ginz.
